We give the MOST choices to our customers with literally thousands of combinations available! We have three types of scents you can choose from to scent your soap. Essential Oils, which are 100% ALL NATURAL scents derived from nature. Fragrance Oils, which are synthetic (man made) but still smell really, really good. Natural Scents that are not oils - This includes our brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract soap What is the difference between these types of scents? Back To Top Essential Oils are made from distilling parts of a plant, flower, fruit, etc. and concentrating it into an oil. These oils are pure, all natural, and made from nature. If you want an all natural soap, then you need to select an Essential Oil as your choice of scent. Fragrance Oils are synthetic scents made to mimic those found in nature, or are made up of scents that are pleasing and not found in nature. Fragrance oils are used for a variety of reasons. Some plants you cannot make essential oils from...for instance sweet grass which is my favorite scent. Concentrating the oil has toxic side effects, so a fragrance oil must be used. Vanilla is another fragrance that is virtually impossible to create an essential oil from. Others are prohibitively expensive. Old West Soap Company carefully selects its sources for the best fragrance oils on the market. Although they are not made from nature, rest assured they ARE of the highest quality we can find on the market. Natural Scents are just that, come from nature. Currently we have only one natural scent and that is our oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract soap that smells like cookies. ;) Essential Oils Scents 100% Pure and Natural Scent Basil - Smells like Fresh Picked Basil Bay (Rum) Oil NEW! - An essential oil that smells like Bay Rum products made for men.
